Upcoming League Events...
the who, what, where, when, and how to attend LWVLA events
The theme for 2021 is #ChooseToChallege: We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge.

Please join the International Women's Day Committee for a virtual event that will consist of a panel discussion with a special emphasis on gender equity around the world. Panelists will include Barbara Oehninger from Switzerland, Marta Martinez from Uruguay, Ayesha Patnaik from India, and Chero Chuma from Kenya. They will share what they have learned and discuss both advances and continuing challenges in achieving gender equity in their native countries.

Community members are encouraged to raise your hand high to show you’re in and that you commit to choose to challenge and call out inequality. Take a selfie with your hand raised and send it to mpanzer@uwl.edu. We’ll be posting them on the International Women’s Day social media.

The Politics Industry:
How Political Innovation Can Break Partisan Gridlock and Save Our Democracy
by Katherine M. Gehl and Michael Porter
In The Politics Industry, Katherine Gehl and Michael Porter take a radical new approach. They ingeniously apply the tools of business analysis-and Porter's distinctive Five Forces framework-to show how the political system functions just as every other competitive industry does, and how the duopoly has led to the devastating outcomes we see today. Using this competition lens, Gehl and Porter identify the most powerful lever for change-a strategy comprised of a clear set of choices in two key areas: how our elections work and how we make our laws.
Book Club is meeting virtually. Click below to register on website. A Zoom link will be sent to you in your confirmation email. Check on the website calendar for information about the April Book Club.

Voter Experience Survey for the Spring Primary Election
from The League of Women Voters of WI

This is a place where voters can tell us about your experience voting - absentee, early voting, or in-person on Election Day - and can let us know about issues you faced or good things you'd like to see replicated in other parts of the state. The information received from voters after the 2020 Elections was invaluable and allowed us to be more effective as we advocated for improvements to the election process.

After major issues arose during the April 2020 primary, elections officials, clerks, poll workers, advocates, and voters united to make the November 2020 election extremely successful, according to the 2020 Presidential Election Report recently released by Wisconsin Election Protection and the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin.

Candidate Forums

We expect that a number of candidate forums and debates will be scheduled at both the state and local level before the April 6 Election. As we learn about them, we'll share this information in our News Updates. Links and registration information will be posted on our website's calendar. When available, recordings of forums are also available for public viewing on our website.
