Subject: Mayor Reynolds Speaks on River Issues in La Crosse
From: LWV of La Crosse

Please join this free, online webinar sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Upper Mississippi River Region. As a river city, La Crosse's fortunes are tied to the fortunes of the Mississippi. The City is impacted by climate change-related impacts including bigger and more intense storms that can overwhelm storm water systems, floods that cause backups into homes and other buildings, erosion that causes road damage and bluff slippage, saturation and weakening of levees, and possible waterfront damage. These are thorny problems that impact people's lives and livelihoods, and are expensive and complicated to address.

Mayor Mitch Reynolds will talk about how his city is working to mitigate these problems both as an individual city and as part of the Mississippi River City and Township Initiative (MRCTI). And he will talk about a bill now working through Congress - the SMRT Act - that can help cities dealing with these problems.
