The SAVE Act is Unnecessary and Anti-Democratic

Legislative Breakfast - Members Only
March 21, 2026      8:30-10:30 AM
LWVLA members are invited to our 2026 Legislative Breakfast. Members are welcome to invite guests who may be interested in League membership.
We will again be hosting a cordial nonpartisan conversation with our state and national representatives, who are invited to share legislative updates on key issues. Panera Bread will provide a continental breakfast.
The morning includes a moderated Q&A which gives League members, as interested constituents, the opportunity to voice questions or suggestions. All of our La Crosse area delegation—Sens. Baldwin and Johnson, Rep. Van Orden, State Sen. Pfaff, State Reps. Billings, Doyle, and Johnson—have been invited. Reps. Doyle, Johnson, and Sen Pfaff will attend.
The conversation will begin at 8:30 a.m., so please arrive earlier to accommodate seating and breakfast service. If you have any difficulty with registration, please contact us at lwvlawi@gmail.com.
Reservations are now closed.

Tuberculosis has been entwined with humanity for millennia. Once romanticized as a malady of poets, today tuberculosis is seen as a disease of poverty that walks the trails of injustice and inequity we blazed for it.
In 2019, author John Green met Henry Reider, a young tuberculosis patient at Lakka Government Hospital in Sierra Leone. John became fast friends with Henry, a boy with spindly legs and a big, goofy smile. In the years since that first visit to Lakka, Green has become a vocal advocate for increased access to treatment and wider awareness of the healthcare inequities that allow this curable, preventable infectious disease to also be the deadliest, killing over a million people every year.
In Everything Is Tuberculosis, John tells Henry’s story, woven through with the scientific and social histories of how tuberculosis has shaped our world—and how our choices will shape the future of tuberculosis.
