Empower Voters, Defend Democracy | Resolve to Vote in 2025!
Early Voting In Person Starts Today | Increase your "voting knowledge" by using this easy and handy tool. Click on this link to go to the home page of the League of Women Voters of the La Crosse Area website. Once you have perused the items on the first page, take a look at the tab that says Elections 2025/Candidate & Issues Info. On that page are the links to see the recordings we receive to share with others. Right now there is the Weigent-Hogan Neighborhood Association La Crosse School Board Debate, the WIZM Mayoral Debate, and the Supreme Court Debate hosted by Marquette Law School. The three webinars produced by League of Wisconsin(2) and League of Dane County(1), help you understand what you should look for in a Supreme Court Justice. Other recordings will be posted, as they become available.

March 31, 2025 - 6:30 to 8 PM | A gripping historical mystery inspired by the life and diary of Martha Ballard, a renowned 18th-century midwife who defied the legal system and wrote herself into American history.
Maine, 1789: When the Kennebec River freezes, entombing a man in the ice, Martha Ballard is summoned to examine the body and determine cause of death. As a midwife and healer, she is privy to much of what goes on behind closed doors in Hallowell. But when a local physician undermines her conclusion, declaring the death to be an accident, Martha is forced to investigate the shocking murder on her own. The Frozen River is a thrilling, tense, and tender story about a remarkable woman who left an unparalleled legacy yet remains nearly forgotten to this day.

Looking for Volunteers for Committees | The Wisconsin Examiner: On Thursday evening, March 6, 2025, The Wisconsin Examiner reporters Redman and Isiah Holmes received the Media Openness Advocate award at the Wisconsin Freedom of Information Council's annual Openness in Government awards. The Examiner was recognized for successfully winning lawsuits against the local governments of Black River Falls and Wauwatosa to gain access to public records. In remarks at the event, both reporters highlighted how the lawsuits were more than just a fight for records that would help our reporting; they were also vehicles to change policy so more people, reporters and citizens, can keep a watchful eye on public affairs.
