Subject: LWV Lunch & Learn, Sept. 11, 11:30 am
From: LWV of La Crosse

The League of Women Voters invites you to our Lunch and Learn webinar on September 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Waterfront Restaurant, North Entrance. The topic is “The Electoral College – Its History and Relevance in Modern Politics”.

Program Information:
The Electoral College is in the news as candidates decide where to spend their time and resources in this election season.  We know it is important but how did it start? Why is it controversial?  How else could we elect our president? Will it guide us through another peaceful transfer of power?

Speaker:
Joan Schwartz is a retired attorney and Civics Education and Gender Law lecturer at UW-Whitewater, and currently serves as Secretary of the Board of the LWVWI, Chair of the State Impartial Justice and Redistricting Committee, and is a member of the state Legislative Committee.

Registration will provide lunch as well as a Zoom link for virtual attendance. The lunch is $20, or you can attend for free without ordering lunch.  Register at www.lwvlacrosse.org/program. Lunches must be reserved and paid for by the end of day Wednesday, Sept. 4. Pre-paid lunches are nonrefundable. A recording of the program will be posted on our website the day after the live event.
